MDPCO Demands EFCC Probe into Bribery for Ministerial Appointment Scandal …Asserts Tinubu’s Silence is Indicting
The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organization on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has called on anti-corruption agencies to commence an independent investigation into a scandalous revelation by a spokesperson for the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council, Alwan Hassan, that serving ministers paid billions of naira to secure their appointments and consequently seek to recoup their “investments”.
Our demand for an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) probe is predicated on growing concerns of high-level complicity following the disquieting silence of the Tinubu Presidency, five days after the revelation was made on national TV.
Mr. President’s silence validates public apprehension that either he is not in control or he sits in approval of a corrupt and fraudulent system where public offices are reduced to commodities sold to highest bidders with devastating consequences on governance, the welfare of Nigerians and image of our nation.
Whichever be the case, the fact that President Tinubu is running a hopeless administration where, as a leader on whose desk the buck stops, he could not address such scandalous revelation in his administration exposes an alarming condoning of corruption.
Is the President’s silence at a time when millions of Nigerians seeking for answers and making sacrifices to survive the biting economic hardship and worsening insecurity occasioned by his misrule not akin to daring the citizens to do their worse?
This is intolerable against the backdrop of allegations that President Tinubu had surrendered his duties to a corrupt cabal comprising key APC leaders in the National Assembly, top presidential aides and persons said to be close to Mr. President.
The result is the appointment of grossly incompetent individuals, underhand dealers, swindlers and treasury thieves into offices where they brazenly loot funds that ought to be channeled to the wellbeing of citizens.
Little wonder Nigeria, under Tinubu is in tatters, furiously hurtling backwards, overburdened by worsening insecurity, excruciating economic hardship and unsettling $2.3 trillion infrastructure deficit that will require approximately $100 billion annually over the next 30 years to fix while public resources including funds from external borrowing are allegedly being exploited by President Tinubu’s appointees for their personal gains.
Perhaps the Tinubu presidency believes that if it keeps mum, this scandal would be swept under the carpet like other corruption matters dogging this administration.
That will not be the case. The EFCC must identify all those involved in this bribe for appointment scandal and ensure that anyone found culpable is held accountable in accordance with the law.
In any event, our Campaign Organization urges Nigerians not to allow the misconduct of the Tinubu administration to make them lose confidence in the nation especially as Nigeria approaches a crucial point for a national rebirth with the 2027 Presidential election.
The MDPCO assures that with a Makinde-Daura four years RESET NIGERIA Agenda government of national unity on the platform of the APM, government business would be conducted with utmost transparency, credibility and adherence to rules in a manner that prioritizes development, service delivery and overall wellbeing of citizens.
The MDPCO therefore charges Nigerians to remain resolute in their determination to end President Tinubu’s corrupt, inefficient, insensitive, authoritarian and treasury-looting regime by voting in Engr. Seyi Makinde on the platform of the APM on January 16, 2027.
Nigeria deserves a government that is open, transparent, truthful, honest and committed to the common good; an aspiration that a Makinde-Daura Presidency embodies and offers.

Richard Nnanna Ihediwa Director of Strategic Communications MDPCO
